I have a few Pay per click campaigns that I manage and I decided to try to pick out some negative keywords for our ads.  One of the companies is an auto body shop, so I spent some time brainstorming negative keywords and couldn’t think of any.
Then I had that moment of “Wow, how did I not think of this before”  and decided to browse through the analytics for keywords that were not good clicks.  If someone clicks through to your website on a less than desireable keyword that visitor will appear in your site analytics.
Maybe I am over simplifying things here but I would say that picking negative keywords is as easy as checking your analytics from time to time to make sure you don’t have any unwanted paid clicks.  I ended up using “supplies” and “parts” for negative keywords for the auto body campaign.  If anyone thinks it is more complicated than that then please comment.
